We are a new breed of interior decor company based in Bay Area, California that wants to step away from the "fast fashion" and "fast design" trends and instead advocate for a conscious choice in selecting materials that not only enhance the aesthetics of our surroundings but also contribute positively to the environment. We want to help shift our focus from oil and plastic-based options exclusively, such as polyester, to the timeless elegance and sustainability of natural materials like silk, linen, cotton, and wool.
But before we tell you more about it, let us tell you about who we are and how we created Elora Designs. Just like most of us, we have wanted to bring beauty, elegance, luxury and warmth to our home with the use of curtains, roman shades and decorative cushions. As we went searching for it though, we found 3-4 primary options in the market place.
1) Mass produced, inexpensive (read cheap) polyester based "faux silk and linen" product. (Amazon, Walmart etc.)
2) Slightly higher quality but available only in limited fabric options in plain, generic colors.
3) Online options that provide wider fabric choice but drown you in 100's and 100's of options that you have to wade through which is impossible to do via thumbnail sized pictures
4) Working through a designer who can help curate fabric choices and customization but can be prohibitively expensive.
We wanted to create an new option where you can get meticulously handcrafted window treatments made from pure silk, linen, wool, cotton and other luxury blends, available in a curated collection of beautiful patterns and textures and in standard and custom sizes which are affordable. We have worked very hard to make this impossible dream possible by scanning the world over for the best quality material and craftsmanship.
While we all appreciate beautiful decor for our homes, we want Sustainability to be an important decision point. Natural materials like silk, linen, cotton, and wool are derived from renewable sources, making them eco-friendly choices. Embracing these materials helps reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources and promotes a more sustainable way of living. By choosing natural fabrics, we contribute to the preservation of our environment for future generations. Vast majority of window treatments available on Amazon, Walmart and other mass market shops are made exclusively from Polyester, which being a petroleum-based product, has a significant environmental footprint from production to disposal. On the other hand, natural materials require fewer synthetic processes, resulting in lower emissions and reduced environmental impact. Opting for silk, linen, cotton, and wool supports a cleaner and greener planet.

We are fully committed to Artisanal Craftsmanship in our manufacturing. Rather than factory based, mass produced curtains and shades, our product is made by a small shop with a team of 10 craftsmen and women who have been engaged in the craft of tailoring for decades. Our curtains are made for you with great care and with materials that have been produced and selected with equal care.
